- CompTIA A+, N+ certifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in IT.
- The above certifications plus any other CompTIA, Microsoft, or Cisco certifications.
- A working knowledge of Windows Server, various OS administration, Cisco, LINUX Administration, SQL, Virtualization development and administration, experience with VMware software and Informix environments
- Experience in higher education.
- Associate degree or equivalent work experience in IT.
- 5 years of systems experience in a Microsoft server and desktop environments.
The Desktop Support Engineer provides day to day administration of the college's client systems infrastructure and implementation of additions to the infrastructure. The position will manage and monitor all installed client systems and infrastructure. Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools, ensuring the highest levels of client systems and infrastructure availability.
- Designing, implementing, and managing, imaging systems.
- Designing, implementing, and managing, desktop deployment systems.
- Deployment of desktop images to computers efficiently as possible by technicians.
- Designing and implementing patch management systems for Windows and Mac desktops, laptops, tablets, and other mobile devices.
- Creating software image methods for technicians to deploy images to endpoint devices.
- Troubleshooting software and hardware issues as they arise.
- Develop and implement a software update schedule for technicians to follow.
- Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.
- Communicate with technicians to identify and explain solutions.
- Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
- Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks.
- Participate in the design of information and operational support systems.
- Provide 2nd and 3rd level support.
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.

Proficiency in computer operations at an administrative level. Excellent oral, written, and listening skills. Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities. Strong grasp of effective collaboration and teamwork. Basic knowledge of network troubleshooting Intermediate Ethernet and IP configuration of switches and computers. Proficiency in Microsoft support tools, such as DNS, DHCP, WDS, SCCM, ADK, and other IT infrastructure systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Advanced knowledge of patch management and software distribution. Ability to work in a diverse, multi-cultural environment. Ability to read and comprehend the English language sufficiently in order to understand written and verbal information.
