Calling all actors and actresses, and anyone ready to experience a magical journey and participate in the excitement of live theater! Northland Pioneer College (NPC) will hold auditions for the fall musical Finding Neverland on Tuesday, August 25, from 5:30 to 10 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center located on the Snowflake/Taylor – Silver Creek Campus, 1611 S. Main St.
Finding Neverland is based on the Academy Award-winning Miramax motion picture written by David Magee, and the play The Man Who Was Peter Pan, by Allan Knee. The production focuses on the playwright J.M. Barrie and the family that inspired Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up, featuring a book by James Graham, with music and lyrics by Gary Barlow and Eliot Kennedy.
Director, NPC Faculty in Theater and Speech, Carson Saline, said, “Help us bring this unforgettable story to life. We’re looking for actors and actresses ranging from 6 years to 60+. This is a musical, and the characters should have strong, charismatic personalities, be playful, and exhibit musical and movement ability.” Auditions are open to EVERYONE, not just current NPC students, and will consist of musical performances and a short dance/movement call.
A special slot for the youth auditions has been scheduled for August 25, beginning a 5:30 p.m. and ending at 7:30 p.m., at which time the production team will work with young casting hopefuls as a group. Additionally, youth participants should visit www.npc.edu/auditions to download and begin practicing two song cuts in preparation for the audition call.
All other performers should become familiar with the cast’s characters and prepare two (2) contrasting one-minute song cuts in the musical style of the show. Each cut should be no longer than one minute in length. An accompanist will be provided.
For those who would like tips and tricks on how to prepare, what to prepare, music choices, or need to shrug off nerves before auditions, a free workshop will be held on Tuesday, August 18, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at NPC’s Performing Arts Center. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Appointments to audition must be made online at www.npc.edu/auditions. See the website for more information, including descriptions of the play’s characters.
Fall performances of Finding Neverland will be held at NPC’s Performing Arts Center in Snowflake, AZ, November 13-21. For audition questions, contact Carson Saline at carson.saline@npc.edu or call (928) 536-6247.
