Northland Pioneer College’s (NPC) Fine Arts department is pleased to announce a special visit and live demonstration by ceramist Heather Spontak on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the college’s Show Low campus, Aspen Center, room 104.
Spontak is an accomplished artist whose work explores color, texture, and expressive mark-making. She currently lives and works near Bisbee, Arizona, and is excited to share her artistic techniques, creative process, and insight into how a piece develops from concept to finished work. “Almost all of the fun in making pots is in the process, not necessarily the end result,” she said. Spontak finds inspiration in the world around her, drawing from the subtleties of daily life that are often overlooked. Shadows from plants, weather patterns, and shapes between objects. Her pieces are layered with a variety of ceramic techniques, including intricate carvings, natural textures, and unique materials. She explained, “Working with clay is an outlet and an opportunity to bring attention to the objects and tiny details that make life beautiful.”
Attendees will have a chance to observe Spontak’s unique processes and creativity. The event is free and open to the public. For more information and details, visit www.npc.edu/talon-art-gallery or contact Gallery Director and NPC Art Faculty Magda Gluszek at magda.gluszek@npc.edu.
