Northland Pioneer College’s (NPC) Alpha Gamma Tau Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), the international honor society for two-year college students, welcomed 41 new members during an induction ceremony held Friday, February 27, at NPC’s Snowflake/Taylor – Silver Creek Campus.
NPC Faculty in English Ryan David Orr addressed the PTK inductees, applauding their academic achievements and the significance of joining the honor society. “In pursuing excellence in higher education, and affirming your quest by joining the distinguished ranks of Phi Theta Kappa, you’re not just adding another pin to your lapel. You are taking action. You are seeking wisdom.” Orr is an NPC alumnus and a fellow member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. He continued, “You are leaders among this wave of scholars that are battling their way through the trials and tribulations of higher education. So celebrate yourselves, and your accomplishments.” He said, “Keep shining the light of knowledge upon the dark corners of the world. Congratulations and best wishes on your next steps.”
NPC’s 2026 PTK Alpha Gamma Tau Chapter President and NPC student Daniel Webb gave charge to the inductees, swearing them in by oath. Assisting with the ceremony were NPC student inductee and PTK Vice President of Leadership, Rafael Sangrador, PTK Vice President of Public Relations and student inductee Seth Marticion, and PTK Vice President of Fellowship, NPC student Jana-Ray Nielipinski.
To be eligible for PTK membership, students must complete a minimum of 12 hours of associate degree coursework and earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher. Students must also maintain a high academic standing throughout their enrollment in the two-year college, generally a 3.25 GPA. As members, students are eligible for a number of scholarship programs, and in some cases, distinguished placement at four-year colleges and universities.
