The department for Instructional Support assists faculty and staff with the use of technology for teaching and learning and the creation of well-designed instructional content for all delivery modes. Their mission is to contribute to an academic culture grounded in the values of respect, inclusion, and innovation. The department focuses on the theory and practice of effective use of pedagogy, technology, and instructional design by:
- Providing access to support documentation, instructional guides, and materials for learning technologies
- Providing information about learning and training opportunities appropriate to faculty with a range of technology competencies through individual consultation, coaching, and workshops
- Providing advice on design, development, implementation, and evaluation of courses
- Providing information to ensure that technology-based learning environments and support systems maintain compliance with accessibility standards
- Keeping faculty informed of emerging technological and pedagogical trends

Faculty Mentoring Program
The Faculty Mentoring Program is an integral component of faculty professional development. The purpose of the program is to facilitate peer collaboration and support between a mentee (a faculty member new to the instructional environment at NPC) and a mentor (a faculty member who is well-versed in teaching and technology), as we believe that faculty mentors can contribute significantly to the development of the mentees' pedagogical and technological skills, leading to improved self-efficacy, job satisfaction, and collegial networking.
The first-semester teaching in a new environment can be intimidating, but with the help from a group of highly experienced and motivated mentors, we hope our new faculty will have a smooth transition and adjustment. For more information see the Faculty Mentoring Program.

- Michael Broyles - Ph.D., Instructional Support Chair. Responsibilities include supporting faculty in the effective use of instructional technologies, ensuring compliance with accessibility standards, and promoting innovative practices in course and curriculum design.
- Ulises Ricoy - Ph.D., Curriculum Coordinator. Responsibilities include coordinating the curriculum development process for faculty as well as coaching and training faculty on curriculum development and assessment alignment with accreditation expectations.
- Melissa Saksa - Instructional Designer. Responsibilities include participating in planning, implementation, and assessment activities for faculty teaching online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses. Emphasis is on culturally inclusive pedagogy/andragogy, Universal Design, and Open EducationalResources.
