Accreditation is a process that is designed to assure the public of an institution's integrity and high quality of services.
It recognizes that the college meets or exceeds the standards and expectations established by the accreditation agency. Northland Pioneer College is fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and has been since October 1979.
NPC completed its most recent self-study of the college for the HLC visit, on October 26-28, 2009. NPC has successfully met the five core components for continued accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The commission formally adopted the HLC team’s recommendation in May 2010.
The process included an examination of the institution in all of its aspects: its mission, educational activities, business practices, governance structure, facilities, planning for the future, relationships with our communities and our responses to their educational needs. How effectively the HLC felt we fulfilled our mission determined the type and length of re-accreditation we received.
