Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
Industry standard computer certifications (VCP/VCAP, MCSE, CCNA, etc.)
Working experience in Higher Education environments.
Associates degree from a regionally accredited institution.
3+ years of experience working with computer hardware, software, and operating systems.
2 years of experience administering and configuring server platforms in a virtual server environment.
Experience with any of the following technologies: Cisco solutions, CommVault Systems, F5 Networks, VMware Horizon, Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCE), and Polycom Video conferencing.
Industry standard computer certifications (Comp TIA, Microsoft, CISCO, etc.)
Experience with administering VMware tools and services.

Under the general supervision of the Network and Systems Administrator, the Network and Systems Engineer is responsible for the college’s computer system maintenance, administration and operations activities. Responsible for planning, implementation, and ongoing administration of systems and services. Provides a scalable, highly available and robust environment for the faculty, staff and students. The Network and Systems Engineer supports the Network and System Administrator in tasks, projects, focus and direction of the college.
- Plan and implement complex, integrated systems as needed to serve the mission of the college.
- Design, install, maintain, and support indoor and outdoor wireless network infrastructures and make recommendations on enhancements.
- Administration of geographically dispersed systems including replication clusters, replicated storage, and load balancing.
- Assist in the planning, configuration, deployment, and support of campus LAN/WAN infrastructure.
- Monitor and support server and network infrastructure by effectively managing the college’s network operations center.
- Document network topology and configuration settings of all equipment, to include a full and accurate inventory of all network devices.
- Identify, plan and manage execution of upgrade and lifecycle of hardware/software as needed.
- Work closely with the Network and Systems Administrator to install and maintain datacenter network infrastructure.
- Produce and maintain accurate required documentation related to user accounts, maintenance actions, system configuration changes, etc.
- Provide cross-discipline support for other Information Services departments and specialties.
- Lead, participate, initiate, contribute and support projects as assigned.
- Manage disaster recovery & back-up environment.
- Support and monitor security, antivirus, data integrity and threat/risk assessment areas.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of:
- Previous and current versions of Windows Server
- Various Microsoft Datacenter technologies including Active Directory, Exchange serve 2010 and/or 2013, ISS, SQL Server, and File Servers.
- Linux server platforms; SLES and Ubuntu are especially desirable as is experience with Linux webserver administration.
- Hardware analysis abilities including use of diagnostic software and diagnostic tools/equipment.
- In-depth experience with virtualizations platforms, specifically VMware.
- Knowledge of various storage technologies, including Fibre Channel, NFS and SMB.
- Automation of common tasks; knowledge of PowerShell, BASH, and other scripting languages is highly desirable.
- An understanding of VDI administration and configuration, or the ability to learn quickly.
- Common backup technologies.
- Moderate enterprise networking including VLAN, STP, WAN, traffic analysis, and managed switch configuration are a must.
