NPC has long recognized having a trained and qualified emergency medical services workforce is critical to the communities it serves in Northeastern Arizona. The college has offered emergency medical training (EMT) courses for over three decades. NPC provides courses and programs that range through CPR/First Aid and First Responder to two levels of the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification: EMT-Basic and Paramedic. And once you are certified, NPC offers advanced life support courses.

Why Study EMT?
Few careers are as exciting
If you are emotionally stable, have good dexterity, agility and physical coordination, and are able to lift and carry heavy loads you might consider the career field of paramedicine. As an EMT-Basic or paramedic, you are trained to care for and transport sick and injured persons to a medical facility. You may face life and death situations as extreme as car wrecks, gunshot wounds and heart attacks. The stress of having people’s lives depend on your quick decision-making and immediate medical treatment can be enormous. Even so, many people find great satisfaction in this challenging career that offers an opportunity to help so many others. And, as an added bonus, job growth opportunities for EMTs and paramedics is forecast to average nine percent through 2018.
