ALCOHOL AND DRUG POLICY
Northland Pioneer College is committed to providing an educational environment consistent with district policy: It is the intent and policy of NPC to maintain a drug and alcohol free working environment for its employees and students.
- Employees are expected and required to report to work on time and in appropriate mental and physical condition for work. It is our intent and obligation to provide a drug and alcohol free, healthful, safe and secure work environment.
- The College prohibits the unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensing, possession or use of controlled substances and alcohol on College premises, while conducting College business, or at any time which would interfere with the effective conduct of the employee's work for the College.
- The College recognizes drug and/or alcohol dependency as illnesses and major health problems. The College also recognizes drug and alcohol abuses as potential health, safety and security problems. Employees needing help in dealing with such problems are encouraged to seek it, either through their own resources or by requesting help or referral through the sources designated in the procedure based on this policy. Conscientious efforts to seek help will not jeopardize any employee's job.
- Employees must, as a condition of employment, abide by the terms of this policy and report any convictions under a criminal drug statute for violation occurring on or off College premises while conducting College business. A report of a conviction must be made within five (5) days after the conviction as mandated by the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988. Alcohol and other drug abuse prevention efforts occur at NPC during each school year to educate students regarding the health risks associated with use and abuse. Intervention information and services exist both on-campus and off-campus to help students in overcoming dependencies. Additional information about health risks, programs available, the College drug policy and legal sanctions or disciplinary action may be obtained through the Office of the Dean of Student Services, P.O. Box 610, Holbrook, AZ 86025.
