
Love working with young children? Perhaps you want to start right away in the field of early childhood development and do not plan attending university. If this is the case, you will find improved employment opportunities as well as developing officially endorsed childcare and parenting skills by earning your Associate of Applied Science degree in Early Childhood Development.
This useful degree allows you to assist primary school teachers as an assistant, work in preschools, operate your own preschool or family home provider setting, or prepare yourself for your own parenthood. Many opportunities also exist in any number of other settings where a childcare or child development background is useful such as counseling, speech clinics, medical or dental offices.
The following degrees and certificates are available in the Early Childhood Development occupational program for those NOT planning to transfer to a university or four-year college:
- Associate of Applied Science (AAS) • 64 credits
- Certificate of Applied Science (CAS) • 32 to 49
credits depending on area of specialization - Certificate of Applied Science, Early Childhood
Special Needs (CAS) • 32 credits - Certificate of Proficiency (CP) • 16 or 26 credits
depending on selected area of study
