Staff should refuse to perform any act considered to be in violation of copyright law. Staff should direct instructors and students to copyright web page for copyright instruction.
- Copyright policy must be posted on photocopiers, computers, tape duplicators.
- Copies can be made for items that are damaged, deteriorating, lost or stolen if, after a reasonable effort, a replacement cannot obtained at a fair price.
- Copies made for others become the property of the user and not the library. Copies must be for individual study.
- Include a copyright statement on all articles or portions of materials photocopied by library staff.
- Keep accurate records regarding copying, includes Interlibrary Loan and Course Reserve items.
- Treat reserve items as an extension of classroom.
- Copies do not constitute systematic reproduction of the same material.
- Unpublished works may be reproduced for archival protection.
- Be aware of all regulations for various formats.
