In the NewsNPC offers Concealed Weapons Permit classesState-certified concealed weapon permit classes are offered on a regular basis at Northland Pioneer College’s Snowflake/Taylor Silver Creek Campus, 1611 S. Main, in the Student Center, room 123. The next Basic Concealed Weapon Permit Classes, will be Saturday and Sunday, from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. each day, November 22 and 23, AJS 199-98151. Tuition is $48, plus a $22 course fee. This does not include the DPS application fee. Students must be at least 21-years-old to enroll in this course. Enrollment is limited to 10 students, so early registration is encouraged. Weapons cannot be taken into NPC classrooms. “Students should bring their weapons, leaving them secured in their vehicles, until the class goes out to the firing range on Sunday for qualification,” noted instructor David Audsley. Register for the Basis Concealed Weapon Permit class at any NPC campus or center, weekdays, between 8 A.M. and 4 P.M., or call 524-7660 or toll-free 800-266-7845 to enroll by phone and pay fees with a VISA or MasterCard. Seniors, those 60 and over, are eligible for half price tuition for all NPC credit classes. Under NPC’s tiered tuition scale, students may qualify to take this class at no tuition charge, depending on the total semester course load. NPC academic advisors can explain the free tuition option. As part of the registration process, you may need to verify your U.S. residency status. Your local NPC campus or center will provide details about required documentation. Students needing to renew a concealed weapon permit should contact the instructor. Arizona requires completion of a state-certified course prior to applying for a permit to carry a concealed weapon. Course topics include handgun safety, weapon maintenance, Arizona law on the use of weapons and firing range qualification.
