SPRINGERVILLE — Hatha Yoga is becoming one of the most popular forms of physical exercise in the world. You can learn the basics and practice with others of all ages this fall on Tuesday evenings, August 21 through December 4, from 5:30 to 6:30, at Northland Pioneer College’s Springerville-Eagar Center, 900 E. Maricopa St. There is a $72 fee for the noncredit class offered by the Community and Corporate Learning Division.

“From my very first class, I was hooked on it as I experienced its extensive positive benefits,” commented instructor Natalia Rihs. She has been practicing yoga for over a decade and completed a year-long, 200-hour course of study to become a certified instructor. She has been teaching yoga classes for NPC since 2010.

Students are encouraged to wear loose fitting clothes and bring a yoga mat, straps, two blocks and a blanket to class.

Register for the Hatha Yoga class at least four days before the class starts to ensure it is not canceled due to insufficient enrollment. You can now register and pay for noncredit classes online. Need help registering? NPC campus offices have computers available to use for registering for classes.

Hatha yoga refers to a set of physical exercises (known as asanas or postures), and sequences of asanas, designed to align your skin, muscles, and bones. The postures are also designed to open the many channels of the body – especially the main channel, the spine – so that energy can flow freely.

NPC's Community and Corporate Learning Division provides personal interest and specialized corporate training throughout NPC's service area.
