Outdoor survival, safety workshops

Learn basic survival concepts and how to build an emergency survival kit in noncredit workshops at Northland Pioneer College’s Show Low – White Mountain and Snowflake/Taylor – Silver Creek campuses in June and July.

The Snowflake workshops meet in the Student Center, room 116. The Show Low workshops meet in the Aspen Center, room 110.

Instructor James Bratcher shares how to keep yourself and others safe in an emergency situation in his “Basic Outdoor Survival” workshop, which meets from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. The cost is $40 for this informative course that teaches several basic survival concepts.

For the Snowflake class, register for STC 099x:

For the Show Low class, sign up for STC 099x:

Build an emergency kit tailored to your own needs with useful ideas gained in Bratcher’s “Emergency Kit Consideration and Construction” workshop from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The cost is $25 for this workshop.

Bratcher has been actively learning about and practicing outdoor survival skills for nearly 20 years. He has published many articles on the topics of outdoor survival, self-reliance, hunting, shooting and the outdoors. He is a National Rifle Association certified shooting instructor and worked full time as a range safety officer. He has provided instruction for the general public, private clients and law enforcement.
