Solar Cooking & Sustainability Workshop
Harness the power of the sun for cooking, water heating and sustainability using techniques garnered from a two-day Introduction to Solar Cooking & Sustainability Workshop, Friday and Saturday, April 16 & 17, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days, at Northland Pioneer College’s Snowflake/Taylor – Silver Creek Campus.
Instructor Monty Cunningham will share techniques for utilizing solar energy and “food for your soul and sol for your food” by helping participants create three solar cookers to take home. “This workshop will assist participants to integrate a sustainable lifestyle,” noted Cunningham. “It will be part lecture, observation, small group activity and mostly ‘hands-on’ experience.”
There is a $20 fee for the non-credit Introduction to Solar Cooking & Sustainability Workshop, (NCC HCT 46483), plus a $10 materials fee payable to the instructor on the first day of class, which also covers lunch on the second day. Participants start in the classroom, and will then vanpool to the Sustainability Living Center in Taylor. The second day is spent at the Lodestar Gardens in Show Low.
