Eligibility for monitoring within libraries

  1. Audio, video, Internet classes
  2. Individual needing a make-up test from a face-to-face class.
  3. Math lab classes including those students not finished taking test in the classroom.

Delivery of tests

  1. By courier - Place tests in an NPC test envelope dated 3/31/2006. These are available in NPC libraries. Be sure form is filled out completely. Place the test envelope in brown courier envelope and address to the correct NPC library. Allow 5 days delivery.
  2. By e-mail - Copy must be in PDF format. Copy must be sent to both full-time staff - at campus libraries; center manager and advisor/library technician at centers. Instructors are responsible for e-mailing test and instructions to each Test Location. Test instruction form (in Word format) must also be sent for each test. Indicate how many students will need copy of the test. Copy the test instruction form and paste it in Word. Fill out the form. Save it as a Word document (extension must be .doc) and attach to your e-mail.
  3. By fax - Use only in extreme emergency. Fax directly to the library or center office. Test instruction must accompany test. Indicate how many students will need copy of the test. Right click on test form and click on Print.
  4. Fill out the test instruction form completely. Tests received without clear or complete instructions will be returned to instructor. Be sure to indicate the last date the test can be taken. Tests should be for a specific time period. The library does not hold tests indefinitely. Call any NPC library or the Head Librarian for assistance. Example of completed test instruction form.
  5. Tests are logged in and stored in a locked cabinet. Any tests with a Testing Location of Audio or Video will be placed in that room as soon as they arrive.
  6. Test signature log and mail log (receipt and return of tests) are kept at each library for one year if the instructor has a question about student taking the test.
  7. Libraries will not maintain a test bank or archive. Tests are kept for specific students taking a specific class.

Proctoring of tests

  1. Testing will be on first-come, first-serve basis.
  2. Testing will be done in a designated area.
  3. Students must present NPC ID and provide their own writing utensils. Please explain to your students and refer them to Proctored Testing on library homepage.
  4. Students must sign the test signature log.
  5. Only items allowed by instructor will be taken to the testing area. Storage shelf provided but preferable that students use their vehicles.
  6. Staff will read students the directions on the test envelope. Be sure your directions are specific. Instructions from students are ignored. If you want to change the directions, you are responsible for notifying the testing location. If students disregard instructions, a note will be placed on the test for the instructor.
  7. Students must complete the test in one sitting unless otherwise indicated on instructions.
  8. If there are 6 or more students at one site who must take the test at the same time, call the library one week in advance so arrangements can be made.

Tests placed in the audio or video rooms are not proctored by library staff. Follow the AV Classroom directions please.
