InterLibrary Loan (ILL)
Books, visual recordings, sound recordings not owned by NPC:
- 1) Check the NPC library catalog to be sure we don't own the item.
- 2) Check your local public or school library as well.
- 3) If the item is still not found, go to WorldCat in the OCLC FirstSearch database and find the title.
- 4) Click on "borrow this item from another library".
- 5) Fill out the required information, including your library card barcode.
- 6) Community members will need to pay $2.00 per request before the request is processed.
- 7) Be sure the NPC library has your current address and phone so that you can be notified when the item arrives.
- 8) Pick up the item as soon as you are notified.
- 9) Return items when due (the lending library sets due date).
Journal and newspaper articles not owned by NPC:
- 1) Check all library databases to be sure we do not have access (each database will display the publications it contains).
- 2) Fill out a Library Materials Request Form.
- 3) Provide an ISSN number if you can - it's extremely helpful (you can ask for assistance with this).
- 4) Provide the volume, number, pages, and article title in addition to journal title.
- 5) Give the Request Form to library staff.
- 6) Community members will need to pay $2.00 per request before the request is processed.
- 7) Be sure the NPC library has your current address and phone so that you can be notified when the item arrives.
- 8) Pick up the item as soon as you are notified.
