Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in English or a Master’s degree in a related field including at least 18 credit hours of graduate coursework in English with an emphasis in composition/rhetoric.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in English or related field. 
  • Previous teaching experience in community college. 
  • Ability to teach in a second discipline.

Responsibilities

  1. Teach courses within the English curriculum.
  2. Teach a minimum of 30 credit hours [30 load points] per academic year, at varied times and locations and using a variety of teaching delivery systems (including video, enhanced audio, online).
  3. Participate in the planning, development, and evaluation of curriculum, including assessment of student learning.
  4. Participate in the planning, coordination and organization of courses.
  5. Engage in creative and scholarly activities within the discipline of English.
  6. Serve on college committees.
  7. Participate in department activities and program review.
  8. Maintain regular office hours.
  9. Maintain accurate student records.
  10. Assist and comply with Registrars Office deadlines.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills Required

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent teaching skills. Knowledge of curriculum development.  Ability to establish sound pedagogy and cooperative working relationships in a diverse, multi-cultural environment.  Ability to deliver coursework across the English Curriculum.

Required License/ Certification

Valid Arizona driver's license

Compensation

Initial salary range of $44,069 to $53,158 depending on education and experience.
