Faculty in Masonry Construction Technology

Full-time, 12 Months Faculty, Special Status

Special Work Conditions:  Hazardous environment in that 80% of work is done with convicted felons, including those convicted of violent crimes. Location: Arizona State Prison Complex – Winslow, Arizona.  Schedule: 40 hours per week schedule as dictated by availability of facilities.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum combination of five years documented construction experience in the masonry trades (or in similar professional capacity within the construction industry) and GED or high school diploma.
  • Must be able to pass background and urinalyses drug screening check performed/administered by Arizona Department of Corrections or approved testing location. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or higher.
  • Journeyman level masonry certification or higher from a registered apprenticeship program;
  • Demonstrated familiarity with building codes, OSHA regulations, contracting laws, sustainable construction practices, and or/affiliation with a professional construction related organization.
  • Two years of experience with teaching secondary grade levels (or higher) or postsecondary students.

Responsibilities

  1. Instructs inmate students in a classroom environment and in “hands on” instructional settings.
  2. Complies with policies and procedures as required by the Arizona Department of Corrections, Northland Pioneer College, and other regulatory agencies.
  3. Resources and designs curriculum to meet the requirements of Northland Pioneer College and Arizona Department of Corrections.
  4. Performs all duties in a safe manner, exercising required precautions in regard to tool usage by inmates and secure storage of tools and materials in compliance with DOC policies and OSHA (or other appropriate industry regulations).
  5. Maintains grading and attendance records and submits all paperwork to Northland Pioneer College and Arizona Department of Corrections as required.
  6. Assists in the smooth operation of the college within the correctional environment by registering and assisting students as required.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required License/ Certification

Qualifications to teach applicable skills at the Community College for masonry and attainment of NCCER ICTP core curriculum and masonry level 2 teaching certifications within 9 months of hire date. Valid Arizona driver's license

Compensation

Initial salary range of $55,035 to $59,464, depending on education and experience.
