Maysoon was born with cerebral palsy and was encouraged by her parents to go beyond doctors' expectations. She learned to walk with the help of her father. Maysoon also credits tap dance and yoga as helping her handle her symptoms.
Maysoon has always dreamt of being an actress. She attended Arizona State University and developed her marketability by doing stand-up comedy.
Her charitable organization, Maysoon's Kids, is a scholarship and wellnes program for disabled and wounded refugees.
Maysoon has appeared in movies, talk shows, TV shows, and the #1 TED Talk of 2014. She currently is developing a comedy series entitled "If I Cancan," which is a tribute to her father's encouragement when she was growing up. She is excited to be partnered with her producer, Hazy Mills.
NPC's Andrew Hazzard, Maderia Ellison and PJ Way (pictured, left) met Maysoon at the Higher Learning Commission conference last April in Chicago.
