The NPC program provides you with a quality nursing education at a cost far below comparable nursing programs in the state of Arizona. Our holistically-oriented faculty members are careful to provide you with planned experiences and individualized up-to-date evidence-based instruction. They are dedicated to helping you achieve your goals in this demanding field.

For the past three years NPC nursing program graduates have enjoyed a pass rate of over 90 percent for the national nursing licensing examination, a rate surpassing both Arizona and national averages.

  • Nursing programs are offered in two locations in Navajo County: the White Mountain Campus in Show Low and at the Little Colorado Campus in Winslow. Additionally, the Nursing program prerequisites (courses that must be completed before making application for admission) and required general education courses are available at many of our conveniently located campuses and centers.

About Our Program

The NPC nursing program prepares students to take the National Council Licensing Examination (NCLEX) for practical and/or registered nursing.

  • With successful completion of the first year of the program, you receive a Certificate of Applied Science (CAS) in Practical Nursing and are qualified take the NCLEX-PN allowing you to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN).
  • With your LPN license you may choose to exit the NPC program and gain employment as a licensed practical nurse....OR you may choose to continue with the second year of the program to earn your Associate of Applied (AAS) degree qualifying you to take the NCLEX-RN exam to become a registered nurse (RN)

University Transfer Options

Northland Pioneer College is a member of the “Healing Community,” a consortium that provides NPC associate of applied science nursing graduates the opportunity for seamless articulation to the baccalaureate of nursing (BSN) degree program at Northern Arizona University.

Additionally, Northland Pioneer College nursing students also may now take advantage of an exciting new partnership between the college and Arizona State University (ASU). Enrolled NPC nursing students can earn their AAS RN degree here and then transfer up to 75 of those credits toward a Bachelor of Science (BSN) degree at the ASU College of Nursing and Health Innovation.
