TUITION AND FEE SCHEDULE

ALL fees are approved and subject to change by the Northland Pioneer College District Governing Board.

A form of personal identification (ID), such as an Arizona Drivers's License, Arizona ID card, check guarantee card or military ID card is required when paying by personal check.

Breakdown of fees is as follows:

TUITION

The tuition and fees schedule will be published in the regular semester and summer sessions class schedules. Textbooks are not included in tuition.

INSTRUCTIONAL COURSE FEES

Some classes have an additional instructional course fee charge, shown as "Fees" in the publication of course listings for each semester's NPC Class Schedule. These are to cover special supplies or materials used for instruction. The typical fee is $5 to $25. Students may still be responsible for providing other supplies or tools. Internet courses are subject to a "technology fee," determined each year. Some courses require special insurance, materials, private instruction or travel expenses. These higher-than-usual fees may change annually and apply to such programs as Cosmetology, Nail Technology, Emergency Medical Technician, Advanced Life Support, Fire Science 104, Applied Music, Nursing and others. Such fees are annually reviewed and adopted by the Navajo County Community College District Governing Board, and are therefore subject to change.

NOTE: Northland works closely with local agencies and industries in tailoring training projects to meet local needs. For these special and unique programs, there may be special instructional fees assessed.

APACHE COUNTY

Fees for Apache County are determined by intergovernmental agreement and may vary. Specifics for each term appear in the semester's and summer sessions' NPC Class Schedule.

NEW MEXICO RESIDENTS

Out-of-state tuition and fees are waived for New Mexico residents taking 1-6 credit hours or 12 or more credit hours via a reciprocal agreement with the New Mexico Commission of Higher Education. Application for tuition waivers must be submitted to the Admissions Office prior to registration for the student to qualify for in-state tuition. Waivers are limited. Reapplication is required each semester.

STUDENT PAYMENTS

Funds will be first applied to any encumbrances owed to the College. The refund schedule begins with the first day of registration. Sufficient time must be allowed for final clearance of fee payment checks before refunds will be made. Refunds are made by check and mailed from the College Business Office.

PROMISSORY PAYMENT PLAN

This plan is intended to allow students to spread tuition, fees and book charges over a three-month period. The payment plan is not intended to allow financial aid applicants to defer all payments until financial aid is approved. Students who have applied for financial aid, but have not been awarded financial aid, must make the scheduled monthly payments. If a student is ineligible for financial aid, or neglects to complete the aid process through awarding, s/he is responsible for repayment of the note and all associated collection costs. The student's signature on the promissory note is his/her agreement to make the scheduled payment.

NON-PAYMENT

A student who fails to pay his/her outstanding obligations to the College may be denied future enrollment until the account is settled in full. Transcripts and grades will not be released until all financial obligations to the College have been met.

REFUNDS

TUITION AND FEES

100% is refundable if a student chooses to cancel his/her class participation prior to the first day of the semester. If a student chooses to cancel his/her class participation during the first or second week of the semester, the student will receive a 50% refund. For short-term classes, the student will receive 100% prior to the first day of classes and 50% through the first two days of the course. To receive a 100% refund for summer courses, a student must cancel his/her class participation prior to the first day of the summer session. A 50% refund is provided if a student cancels his/her class participation during the first and second day of summer session classes. No refunds are provided after the second day of summer session classes.

INTERNET COURSE REFUNDS

To receive a 100% refund for an Internet course a student must have canceled the class within one week of registration

and not have initiated any of the Internet class course work. A 50% refund is provided if a student has canceled the class within two weeks of registration and has not initiated any of the Internet course work.

COURSE CHANGE REFUND

Northland strives to be fair in the processing of Course Change Forms to determine possible tuition and fees refunds. If a student registers in a course s/he no longer wishes to take, or the schedule changes after the student has enrolled in a course, College Student Services must determine if a 100% or 50% tuition and fee refund is warranted to students dropping a class within the first two weeks of the semester. A 100% refund is given only under certain circumstances, such as when the College must change an initial course schedule. Therefore, students should be aware that the amount refunded varies. Refund cases will be reviewed on an individual basis. Students dropping a course from their class schedule after the first two weeks of the semester will be held responsible for full payment of tuition and fees.

CANCELLATIONS

Students whose class(es) are canceled by the College will receive a full refund of all tuition and fees for the canceled class(es).

RESIDENCE HALL

Students withdrawing from the College Residence Hall after completing their Residence Hall Contract, are entitled to a 100% refund of Residence Hall fees before the first day of classes. A 50% refund may be given if the student withdraws within the first two weeks of the semester. Students who withdraw from the College Residence Hall after the first two weeks of the semester are not entitled to a refund of room rent. Exceptions may be allowed based on medical emergency or family crisis.
