The Career Services Office at Northland offers career assessment and information, employment skills preparation, and part-time and full-time job referrals for students and alumni.
Resume writing preparation and job search skills assistance are available via HDE workshops and individual consultation.
Job referrals for part-time, full-time, permanent and temporary positions are available for students and alumni of Northland. Opportunities exist with local, county and state wide employers. On-campus (Federal Work-Study) positions are also coordinated in cooperation with the Financial Aid Office. Weekly job openings can be accessed through the NPC Web site or the Job Line at extension 6203.
Student employment in the form of part-time, hourly work is available through Northland's Career Services Office.
Local employers contact the Career Services Office with employment opportunities in many area communities. Available positions are posted on Northland's campus/center bulletin boards.
All part-time job opportunities offered through the College are equal opportunity positions, which are available to students without regard to national origin, race, religion, age, gender, or political affiliation.
Northland co-sponsors annual county-wide Job Fairs. Career Information Resources such as labor market information and career profiles are available in the Northland libraries, Career Services Office and the Internet.

The Learning Cornerstone (TLC) provides students a variety of support services for academic success. Courses are generally offered in self-paced, independent study format and often include computer-assisted instruction. Students attend one or more instructor-supervised labs weekly for each course. They are encouraged to attend the lab as frequently as possible for maximum progress. Enrollment for most courses is open throughout the semester, with completion deadlines at the end of each semester.
The following programs are available.
Provides individualized one-on-one instruction for adult new readers. Students are assisted by college tutors under the supervision of The Learning Cornerstone faculty.
Provides basic literacy and math instruction for students with limited educational backgrounds.
Provides (a) continuing literacy and math instruction for students who have completed Basic Education and (b) review and practice for students who wish to enter the GED Preparation program.
Provides courses focused on preparing for the GED and a pretesting service. GED candidates are encouraged to take the Official GED Practice Tests prior to actual GED testing. TLC staff will analyze practice test results and make recommendations for study and/or testing strategy.
Courses review and develop skills prerequisite to college coursework. They provide a refresher for mature students re-entering the educational system and additional practice for recent high school and/or GED graduates who wish to strengthen their academic skills.
Students develop skills to succeed with college and university learning. Contents include pre-algebra, pre-college writing, pre-college reading, critical reading, vocabulary development and study skills. Reading and study skills courses are especially recommended for students beginning long term degree programs; TLC 100 and TLC 101 may be used as elective credit towards some degrees or certificate programs. (Check with an Academic Advisor.)
Speakers of other languages develop basic English communication skills. A course to help students become naturalized U.S. citizens is also offered.
The following support services are available.
Provide students with facilities, equipment and technical assistance for completing college writing assignments and resumes. Access will be granted to Northland students who complete the required lab orientation.
Learning Assistants provide College placement testing and TLC placement. They provide tutoring and learning assistance for TLC students.
TLC courses are aligned to the Arizona Adult Education Standards.
ABE (Adult Basic Education) Scholarships are available to cover the cost of tuition for most TLC classes.
