EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY
The Emergency Medical Technology program, under the regulations of the Arizona Department of
Health Services (DHS) and with the cooperation of local, state and private medical
institutions and emergency medical services agencies, trains people from First Responder
through Certified Emergency Paramedic. The program also offers refresher and other continuing
education courses.
American Heart Association CPR and First Aid courses are also available.

Associate of Applied Science • 65 Cr.
The AAS degree in Emergency Medical Technology requires 18 general education credits. The
program's 47 core requirement credits are divided into the Emergency Medical Technician
(IEMT) certification and the upgrade from EMT to Certified Emergency Paramedic (CEP).
To qualify for acceptance into the degree program, a student must be certified by the
Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS) as an EMT.

Clinical and vehicular hours are mandatory for completion of the paramedic program per AZDHS. Cinical
hours: 120 minimum, vehicular hours, 372 minimum.
Certificate of Applied Science
To complete a Certificate of Applied Science in Emergency Medical Technology a student must complete the
core requirements and ENL 101 or SPT 120, and MAT 101.
