Transfering to NPC is easy!
Planning to attend NPC and have already attended another college, university or educational institution? You will want to make sure we accept your creditable prior learning. Here are the steps you need to take:
Meet with an NPC academic adviser
You will find advisers located at every campus and center. Depending upon your individual circumstances, there are a number of ways to receive credit for your prior learning. Consulting with an adviser will give you a general idea of the options and procedures you may need to follow.
Fill out the NPC online enrollment form
Obtain documentation of your prior learning
Credit transfer from regionally accredited institutions:
Transfer students from regionally accredited institutions should submit official copies of all previous college work to the Records and Registration Office. Also include a completed Request for Evaluation of Transfer Credits form. In the majority of cases, transfer credit is awarded for each course level 100 or above in which you received a ‘C’ or better grade.
Other credit sources
Again, as there are a number of ways to receive credit for your prior learning consulting with an adviser will give you a general idea of the options and procedures you may need to follow.
Take a Placement Test (if needed)
You may be required to take an academic placement test. This is generally true in cases where you:
- Have not already taken a placement test and plan to take courses with placement prerequisites
- Are pursuing an NPC Associates Degree, Certificate of Applied Science, or Arizona General Education Curriculum
- You do not have a satisfactory previous credit equivalent for the prerequisite course (That's why it's so important to have your documentation because you may have taken a previous course that will satisfy the prerequisite!)
Tip: You are encouraged to complete the placement test BEFORE registration periods. There is a $10 fee which allows you to test up to three times during the semester. You should take the tests after visiting with your academic adviser. And because it could save you time and another trip, we encourage you to make an appointment beforehand so you will have time available to take the test the same day.

Get Your Student ID Card
As a registered student, you should obtain a Student Identification/Library Card from your campus or center library by presenting your paid registration receipt. The card allows the check out of library materials. Also, several local businesses offer student discounts to those with a valid ID.
Order Your Books and Supplies Online
Starting with the Summer 2010 semester, NPC students will order their textbooks through our online bookstore and have them delivered directly to their homes.
Tip: Textbook costs vary widely depending on the number of and types of courses taken. We estimate that the average student enrolled in 15 credits will have approximately $500 in textbook costs. Financial aid may be available.
