Academic Adviser

Organizational Relationship: Reports to the Director of Enrollment Services
Location: Office located at the Little Colorado Campus, Winslow, Arizona.
General Statement of Responsibilities: To provide academic advisement to prospective and current students concerning all college programs, degree requirements, testing, transfer and student activities. Perform a variety of public service functions to enhance college educational programs; have a positive working relationship with faculty, staff and students.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of two years related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of academic programs, financial assistance/academic eligibility, policies and procedures, and recruiting practices.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide access to information and academic advising to students concerning registration, course selection, scholarships, financial aid, graduation requirements, career goals, placement testing and special needs referral.
  • Assist students with post-secondary planning and transfer activities.
  • Refer students to appropriate offices for specialized services.
  • Coordinate with Campus/Center Manager to provide a student friendly registration process.
  • Facilitate training of temporary registration advisers.
  • Coordinate tutoring program, assuring completion and distribution of necessary forms.
  • Refer and distribute information to students requesting special needs accommodations.
  • Perform duties as program adviser to students in specialized programs as required.
  • Coordinate placement testing during registration and administer testing services throughout the semester.
  • Perform duties of Admissions Officer as required.
  • Provide coordination and assistance for graduation ceremony as required.
  • Serve on departmental and college committees as assigned.
  • Perform related duties and secondary assignments as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform the tasks with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Sufficient physical dexterity to use a telephone, computer keyboard and other electronic equipment.
  • Critical sensory requirements include general vision (corrected to 20/20), hear and listen in the normal range (corrected), and speak and give general directs clearly.
Required License/ Certification:
  • Valid Arizona driver's license.
  • Notary commission required once in the position.
Compensation: Initial salary range for this position is $35,921 to $40,000, depending on prior experience and education.
